Who We Are

In the 21st century, children are required to learn and master more than ever in order to compete and thrive in an increasingly complex global community. Government funding is not providing the resources necessary to keep pace with these higher standards. If we want our children to get ahead, we need to help our schools get ahead.

LGEF is a parent-run, non-profit organization that raises
vital funds for the Los Gatos Union School District (LGUSD).

The Foundation was founded in 1982 by concerned parents and community members in response to severe cutbacks in public school funding and programs following the passage of Proposition 13.

Since its formation, LGEF has contributed over $8 million to supplement the district’s limited budget.

LGEF annual campaign funding focuses on SMART programs Science, Music, Art, Resources, and Technology offered throughout the district. The Annual Giving Campaign each year will fund core curriculum and enrichment programs at Lexington, Daves Avenue, Blossom Hill and Van Meter elementary schools as well as RJ Fisher Middle School.

The Need for Private Fundraising

The current funding of our public school system is inadequate to deliver the programs, teachers, and materials needed to provide Los Gatos children with a quality, well-rounded education.

With continued cutbacks in public funding at the state and local levels, the need for additional, private funding will continue to increase.

The critical supplemental funding of educational programs through LGEF will play an even more significant role in maintaining the quality of our schools.
